We should build the Belt and Road into a road of innovation. Innovation is an important force powering development. The Belt and Road Initiative is new by nature and we need to encourage innovation in pursuing this initiative." On May 14, the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation opened, attracting worldwide attention.

After watching the opening ceremony, Dr. Li Shunde, professor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences wrote to CIP News reporter that innovation was the first driving force for development and IPR was the basic guarantee and important support for innovation-driven development. Building the Belt and Road into a road of innovation means we will have a new era and new chance for IPR.

Mr. Zhao Xianming, president of ZTE Corporation, deeply believes that the Belt and Road Initiative is a great undertaking which brings upside potential for the enterprises. He told CIP News reporter that as an IPR advantage transnational corporation, ZTE has carried out the wired network layout and wireless networks layout in 52 and 40 Belt and Road countries and regions respectively and brings tangible benefits to these countries and regions. According to Mr. Zhao, ZTE and Pakistan Television Corporation reached an agreement on digital television cooperation during the Belt and Road Forum. Zhao says that the promotion of China's digital broadcasting television standard DTMB in Pakistan will play positive role in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Meanwhile, more and more Chinese companies have exported their products with independent IPR and brought tangible benefits to the countries and regions along the Belt and Road. Take the Inspur Company for example, it is one of the largest global datacenter and cloud computing solutions provider in the world and owns numerous advantage technology in fields of cloud computing, mass storages, high-end servers and artificial intelligence. In recent years, the Inspur Company has held more than 500 training classes to thousands of technicians in Vietnam, Indonesia, Egypt, South Africa and other countries and regions in the Belt and Road. According to Li Yang, a representative from National Institution for Finance and Development under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, The output of China's advanced technology provides more opportunities for some developing and underdevelped countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, fulfilling the Silk Road spirit, which are peaceful cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning, mutual benefit and win-win.

When attending the Belt and Road Forum, Francis Gurry, WIPO's Director General, says that building a positive IPR ecosystem will help improve the IPR system among the Belt and Road countries and create innovative and sustainable development environment and make contributions to global IPR system construction. According to him, as a very practical cooperative model, the Belt and Road has provided important strategic opportunity to developing countries and will play a positive role in globalization.

The opening ceremony of the forum gives a profound impression to the professor Wu Handong from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. He says that IPR is an inseparable part of international trading, innovation and development right now, which will play a significant role in the Belt and Road Initiative. Statistics show that total trade between China and other Belt and Road countries in 2014-2016 has exceeded 3 trillion US dollars, and China's investment in these countries has surpassed 50 billion US dollars. Meanwhile, the products, services, technologies and capitals from other Belt and Road countries were exported to China and the China Made, Chinese brands, China Construction and Chinese services gained great popularities in these countries. It is worth noting that the IPR cooperations in high-technology fields are the new lightspots of the Belt and Road Initiative.
